Privacy Policy
How DataChannel handles personal data, and the data in your warehouse, when you use AskNeo.
Last updated: 9 September 2026
1. Who we are
AskNeo is a product of DataChannel ("DataChannel", "we", "us", "our"). Our office is at 20th Floor, Magnum Global Park, Gurugram, Haryana, India. For any privacy question, or to exercise the rights described below, write to info@datachannel.co.
This policy explains what personal data we collect when you visit this website or use the AskNeo application, why we collect it, and what control you have over it.
2. Data in your warehouse
AskNeo is designed so that your business data stays in your data warehouse. We do not copy your tables into our systems and we do not keep a shadow copy of your records.
To answer a question, AskNeo reads structural information: table names, column names, data types, and a limited sample of values used to build the knowledge graph and resolve business terms. It then generates SQL which runs against your warehouse using credentials you supply, under read-only, least-privilege access. Query results are processed transiently to compose the answer and any chart, and are stored only where you have chosen to save a Storyboard.
We do not use your warehouse data, your questions, or AskNeo’s answers to train any machine learning model, ours or anyone else’s.
3. Personal data we collect
- Account data: name, work email, organisation, and authentication identifiers.
- Billing data: plan, credit consumption, and billing contact. Card details are handled by our payment processor; we do not store full card numbers.
- Usage and telemetry: feature usage, credit events, performance metrics and error logs.
- Support communications: messages you send us and any attachments.
- Website data: IP address, browser and device information, and pages viewed.
4. How we use it
- To provide, secure and maintain AskNeo.
- To authenticate users and apply role-based access controls.
- To meter credit consumption and bill the correct amount.
- To provide support and respond to your requests.
- To detect, investigate and prevent abuse, fraud and security incidents.
- To comply with our legal obligations.
5. AI subprocessors
AskNeo uses large language models provided by OpenAI and Anthropic to interpret questions and generate SQL and written analysis. What is sent to these providers is limited to schema and metadata, your question, and the data required to compose an answer.
These providers act as our subprocessors under contracts that prohibit the use of your content for model training. A current list of subprocessors is available on request from info@datachannel.co.
6. Sharing
We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We disclose personal data only to subprocessors who help us run the service under written contract, to professional advisers, to an acquirer in a merger or acquisition subject to this policy, and to authorities where required by law.
7. International transfers
DataChannel is based in India and uses infrastructure and subprocessors that may be located outside your country. Where personal data of individuals in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom is transferred, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or another lawful transfer mechanism.
8. Retention
Account and billing records are kept while your account is active and afterwards for as long as required for tax, accounting and legal purposes. Operational logs are kept on a rolling basis. Storyboards, threads and saved definitions are kept until you delete them or close your account, after which they are removed from active systems and purged from backups in the ordinary backup cycle.
9. Security
We apply read-only, least-privilege access to customer warehouses, encryption in transit, role-based access control inside the application, and an audit log recording every question asked, every SQL statement generated and every result returned. Access to production systems is restricted to personnel who need it.
No system is perfectly secure. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal data we will notify you, and any regulator, as required by applicable law.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port or restrict the processing of your personal data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent. Individuals in India have rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023; individuals in the EEA and UK under the GDPR; and residents of California under the CCPA as amended.
To exercise any of these rights, contact info@datachannel.co. We will respond within the period required by applicable law. You may also complain to your local supervisory authority.
11. Cookies
We use cookies that are strictly necessary to operate the site and keep you signed in, together with a limited set of analytics cookies that help us understand how the site is used. We do not use advertising cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser, though strictly necessary cookies cannot be disabled without affecting the service.
12. Children
AskNeo is a business product and is not directed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. If a change is material we will notify account holders by email or in the application before it takes effect. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
